Although I do not even drink tea, my tea kettle is used on a daily basis for french pressed coffee. I like being able to see the level of water in the kettle. It is nice to be able to see when it is getting ready to boil, before you actually hear it. The whistle on this kettle is not as loud as some and if you were in another room you probably would not hear it. That is not a problem for me. I like that I can see how clean it is vs a metal tea kettle. All around good purchase.

Glass versus Metal - mixmax -
I drink mostly hot tea. And I always used a metal tea kettle. But this glass kettle is better than any metal one, easier to clean, and the boiling water is much cleaner than the one from a metal kettle that after a while starts accumulating metal fillings or whatever. One draw back in my case, I have a electric stove, with an electric uncovered heating element, which requires a metal rod to be placed under the glass kettle, It is an inconvenience, but manageable.

The handle gets a little hot with use, enough to justify using a towel to pick it up. Whistle isn't very loud, so listen well.
